2011 Tryout Requirements

All tryouts will take place at St. Ann's School in the gym. Please see home page for dates and times.
- Register with USAV
- Print out copy of registration card and bring to tryouts (you MUST have this to try out)
- Check age requirements

18 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1993 or Players who were born on or after September 1, 1991 and a high school student in the twelfth (12th) grade or below during some part of the current academic year
17 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1994
16 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1995
15 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1996
14 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1997
13 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1998
12 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1999
10 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2001

- $30 tryout fee (checks made payable to NVA)
- Completed tryout form
- Release form
- Copy of your birth certificate
- Proof of membership.
- Bring a copy of your membership card YOU MUST HAVE THIS TO TRY OUT!

Dear Parents and Athletes,

Welcome to NVA Tryouts! We look forward to seeing your children showcase their volleyball talents. In order to make this run smoothly, we will need the following information from you at the time of tryouts:
- $30 tryout fee

- Proof of membership registration
must paid for online and membership printed out prior to tryouts). If you are trying out for multiple clubs, please leave your club choice blank.

- Completed Tryout form

- Medical release (We have a notary on staff. Please be sure to have identification)

Notification

After your tryouts, we will do our best to notify you as soon as possible (in some cases it will be within a few days and in some it will be a few hours). When we notify you, we will expect a verbal commitment immediately so that we can accurately build our teams. Without your commitment, we will offer your spot to someone else. If you do not make one of our NVA teams, we encourage you to try out for one of the other great clubs that Naples has to offer. After the teams are decided, we will notify you by e-mail of the parent/athlete/coaches meeting to fill out additional paperwork.

Fees

            The fee for NVA is $2000.00 paid in 5 installments.
Payments are due
1. Date of Committment/Signing ($250)
2. Dec. 15th ($500)
3. Jan. 15th ($500)
4. Feb. 15th ($500)
5. Mar. 15th ($250).

Checks should be made payable to Naples Volleyball Association and must be paid on time.  No other coaches will accept checks.   This fee covers the following:

Coaches/Assistant Fees

Facility Fees

Storage Fees

Administrative Fees

Training Equipment

Insurance

Coach’s Travel Expenses

Entry fees for standard tournaments (qualifying tournament may require additional fees)

Your fee also includes:

2 practice shirts

2 Spandex

2 tournament jerseys which will need to be returned at the end of the season.

Your fee will NOT include Volleyball socks, Active Ankles, Knee pads, hotel fees, food fees, transportation/airline fees or additional purchases such as shoes and warm ups or backpacks. These items will be available to you and orders will be taken at the beginning of the season.

Tournaments

Depending on the age and experience of your team, you can expect to attend between 4 and 6 tournaments. In general we attend tournaments in Tampa, Orlando, and Ft. Lauderdale. Additionally, we may compete in an out of state tournament which could be Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Dallas, or Baltimore. That decision will be made by the coaching staff and you will be notified in due time.

Practices

Formal practices begin in November/December. Every team will have 2 practices a week: a weekday night and weekend day. Athletes are expected to be at practice at least 15 minutes early in practice uniform and shoes with a water bottle. Athletes are ALSO responsible for notifying their coaches and/or Coach Edwards if they are going to be absent from any practices.

Active Ankles

NVA strongly recommend that every athlete have a set of Active Ankles. Active Ankles can be purchased online at www.activeankles.com or any of the other volleyball equipment sites. Please be sure to purchase 2. (In other words: 1 pair) They are approximately $30-35 each.

Fundraising

If there are financial concerns, please make your concerns known to Coach Edwards. There will be opportunities for fundraising and discreet financial arrangements we do not want finances to get in the way of a talented athlete participating in NVA.

Coaches

The coaches of each team will be determined by Coach Edwards and will be announced when practices begin. Changes in teams or coaches are solely at the discretion of Coach Edwards.
